Letting Go

Letting Go

As you drive through life you cant move forward while looking through the rear view mirror. You’ll crash!!!

Being a trainer, you hear a lot of reasons WHY something hasn’t happened. A common statement I hear is “I used to be able to do that.” Its a phrase Ive even told people. Whether its an exercise I did when I was a gymnast or a diet I did while training for my calendar shoot with the Charger Girls. Either way, its in the past. I no longer can do the skills I did as a child, and I’m not doing the crazy strict diet I did while prepping for the shoot. Now I’m not saying that I can’t do it anymore, because if I wanted to, I would do it.

This statement is not a bad one unless you let it prohibit you from moving forward. It will cause problems when we tell ourselves, “Dang, I used to be able to do 20 pushups, but I can’t anymore.” Truthfully, you may be right, 20 pushups may not be possible RIGHT NOW, but let’s face it, if you worked on it everyday, you would be able to do 20 pushups again. Right?

To get ahead in life we must use our past to motivate ourself to become a better person or create a goal to attain what we once were able to do.

Let go of what you once were able to do… and look forward to doing that again. It will happen if you work at it!
