Thanksgiving Day Survival Tips
Surviving the holidays while you’re on a strict diet can be hard. But it doesn’t have to be. So often we make the holidays about food and shopping on Black Friday when we should really be focused on the quality time we get to spend with family and friends.
Here’s my top 5 tips for surviving the day without sabotaging your goals.
#1 – Set Alarms. We set timers for everything else, set alarms to remind yourself to eat. The reason why we eat so much at thanksgiving dinner is because we get up at the crack of dawn to start cooking and didn’t eat anything until we sat down with the family!
#2 – Use your utensils to serve yourself. This is my personal favorite because it takes so much work to serve yourself… You end up serving yourself less!
#3 – Drink your water! Water is crucial for your body to function properly and thanksgiving day is no different. Keep your water in sight and drink often.
#4 – Bring your own sides. This will give you a chance to make something that you can actually eat! Keep your dish simple, the more ingredients you have to add, the less healthier it may be.
#5 – Remember what the holiday is all about. Spend more time visiting with your family and friends. Show gratitude to them.
