3 Reasons Why I’m a Personal Trainer

We all have reasons for doing what we do… I don’t think I’ve ever shared mine. Here are my top 3 reasons why I’m a Personal Trainer/Health Coach!

  1. My fascination with the human body.
  2. Accountability
  3. My clients.

FASCINATION OF THE HUMAN BODY

I truly believe that the human body is one of the most fascinating things on this earth. The fact that we don’t have to “remind” ourselves to make our heart beat or tell our lungs to delivery oxygen to our blood and eliminate carbon dioxide is amazing to me. We overlook the simplest functions of our body because we don’t have to tell it to do it, it just does.

The human body is extremely intricate on so many levels and I absolutely geek out with learning about how it works and what it can potentially do! I don’t know if this has always been my top reason because at 19 years old, I’ll be honest, I needed money for a trip and my mom had suggested personal training as a source of income since I was in college for kinesiology (the study of movement).

I never knew how much I would fall in love with learning about the one thing that makes life possible.

ACCOUNTABILITY

We all know we work better when someone is looking over our shoulder. This is another big reason why I am a trainer/health coach. Whether its true or not, I believe I’m being watched, by my clients, my friends and well lets face it… everyone. It may be just in my head, but whatever keeps me healthy, I’ll take it. Funny story, I won’t buy candy at my local grocery store because I’m fearful that someone will see me buying junk food and pass judgment on me. I know I give you all so much power but it does help me stay on track, if I think I’m going to run into you. Don’t get me wrong… I eat junk food. I’m human. I’m secretly addicted to sugar and am working on my addiction everyday. Most days are better than others but if you see me with junk, consider yourself lucky!

CLIENTS

My clients are inspiring. They allow me to challenge them and push them more than they would push themselves. They also give me the permission to call them out when they give excuses. Because of their vulnerablility, I continue to push myself to be a better trainer. The moment when they overcome their biggest fear or their biggest challenge (or what they believe is their  biggest challenge) is an amazing thing to witness. To be apart of their journey to fitness wellness is something special. Their trials and tribulations give me the strength to overcome my own fears and insecurities. And for that I thank them!
